Department of Civil Engineering

Overview

The Civil Engineering Department was established in the year 1965 and is now recognized as one of the leading departments with infrastructure and facilities to match the very best in the country. The department provide students with the fundamental knowledge and problem solving skills in the field of Civil Engineering required for a fulfilling career and to create and disseminate knowledge to improve Civil Engineering research, education and practice.

The Civil Engineering Department of the Institute has produced so many technocrats who are serving the country as well as successfully settled in abroad. The department has been involved with so many research works and produced some excellent outcome. The department is presently associated different developing activities as well as innovation of construction materials. Some of the faculty members are coordinating different technical bodies of the state, Tripura and the region. The department presently acting as the State Referal Institute (SRI) for Water Quality Monitoring of the state. The department is acting as State Technical Agency(STA), Tripura constituted by National Rural Road Development Agency (NRRDA), New Delhi for scrutiny of the Detail Project Report (DPR) of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The department is also acting as the State Resource Institute for Earth Quake and Disaster Mitigation and Management of the state.

Mission: 1. To impart quality education for fundamental knowledge in engineering science and technology with social responsibilities.
2. To develop the engineering background of students towards employability, entrepreneurship and higher learning.
3. To undertake collaborative projects to create opportunities for long-term industry-academia interactions.
4. To develop continuous improvement in teaching learning process.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
1. To empower students for attaining competence in identifying, formulating and solving Civil Engineering problems by applying their knowledge in the field of science and computation skills to meet the challenges, demands and expectations of global society.
2. To establish an understanding of professionalism, ethics, quality performance in order to become professional leaders and contributors to the society.
3. To initiate program for life- long learning that provides continuous development of the technical abilities and professional skills.
4. To develop communication skills in every mode so as to become successful professionals and entrepreneurs.
5. To encourage the students in developing public policy, safety and sustainability to be a professional in solving Civil Engineering problems and producing solutions.
6. To instill skills to analyze and design systems, specify project methods and manage technical activities in support of Civil Engineering projects.

1. Analysis, Design, investigation of complex problems in ways which are sustainable and environmental friendly.
2. Handling of any Civil Engineering projects ethically either as an individual or as a team.
